Lebanon heritage reports

Heritage for Peace in partnership with The Heritage Education Program team and prominent Lebanese organizations and experts, including Terre Liban, Sustainable Tourism Academy, Moovtoo, Herigatech, and Lebanon with a Twist, have released a preliminary report documenting the ongoing destruction of Lebanon’s cultural heritage due to the current conflict.
Since mid-September, Lebanon has faced daily rocket attacks impacting various regions. Using resources from prior publications, social media, news outlets, and local input, the report provides an overview of cultural heritage sites that have been damaged or are under immediate threat, focusing on the regions of South Beirut, the Beqaa Valley, and southern territories along the border.
The report’s primary objective is to document tangible and intangible cultural heritage losses, including sites, monuments, and cultural spaces, without attributing causes to any parties involved in the conflict. Rather, it highlights the destruction and provides a comprehensive list of affected sites to encourage immediate protective actions and outline future preservation recommendations. بالإضافة إلى ذلك, the report identifies the historical significance of impacted heritage structures, underscoring their cultural value both within Lebanon and globally. It also touches on the broader environmental, touristic, and economic repercussions of the destruction.
This report will be distributed through all available media channels, including social media platforms and websites, to reach a wide audience and raise awareness of the urgent need to protect Lebanon’s heritage during these violent times.
